Painting Project part 2: Constellation edition.

So, for the actual project part of this unit, we were assigned to draw up some of favorite constellations.
Here are the ones I made and a short description of what they were about.
This is Cetus the sea monster. It was believed that Cetus was trying to eat Andromeda, and that Perseus would come and save her. Today, Cetus is often depicted as a whale, as some say was the original intention of this shape.
Columba is the dove that informed Noah of the end of the Great Flood. Overall, I think my sketch of this one turned out best of the three.
Pavo is named after the original peacock from Greek legend. According to the story, Hermes killed a 100 eyed giant by the name of Argus. When Argus died, Hera put a lot of its eyes on a peacock.

So, now we're showing off Photoshop's power as a digital art studio, as evidenced by the zebra from the previous post
.
Here we have one of my favorite thing's I've ever ever drawn, digitally or not. I am in absolutely in no way an artist, but this one turned out really well. I couldn't have done it without the tracing layer, of course.
Here we have a little demo we made in class to show off vector selections. Nothing particularly unique about mine, but I thought I'd share it anyways.
Here we have a (fairly disgraceful) Van Gough replica. I wasn't quite used to custom brushes at the time and as stated above, I'm not much of an artist. I think its pretty good for what it is, even if the original is in a league of its own.

My first couple of projects in my Digital Imaging class

I was recently assigned to create a few mythical  creatures in Photoshop. My choices were based off of creatures created in modern fiction. I know we're all nerds here and perfectly familiar with the source material, but as part of the assignment, I was asked to upload them somewhere and give a description.
The Zora, of Legend of Zelda fame, is a creature that is essentially a fish-person.  They come in two very distinct varieties: the River Zora, and the Sea Zora. Pictured above are two Sea Zoras, the friendlier race. The image above shows both the legendary game designer and creator of Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto, and some dude playing the guitar of Mikau, a famous Zora guitar player.

The Decapodian is an alien species from the Futurama universe. They dwell on the planet Decapod 10, and in essence, are humanoid lobsters with squid-like
tentacles over their mouth and do not have a nose. Above is Futurama creator Matt Groening depicted as a Decapodian.

I am aware that my 'shop skills need a lot of work, but I hope you at least enjoy the concept. Making these images was very enjoyable and I can't wait to see what I make next in this class.
